Anything related to Linux.

I saw a piece on Planet Ubuntu about an app that lets you use one keyboard and mouse on two computers on the same network. QuickSynergy. It is a breeze to set up and works like a charm.

Many times I'm sitting at my desk running both my desktop box and my laptop. When I'm working on the UWN, it's a must almost for me. Having to change from my desktop keyboard and mouse to the laptops involves leaning forward, and that causes back and shoulder pain after about 30 mins. or so. With QuickSynergy, this is eliminated.

Call to Arms !! Artwork and input wanted.

There is a new Ubuntu release coming up quickly, and I would like to assemble a AZ LoCo multiple DVD.
Releases I would like to have on the DVD would be:

  • Ubuntu
  • Kubuntu
  • Edubuntu
  • Xubuntu
  • ?? suggestions ??

Since this DVD would be used at the InstallFests, and available for download as a torrent from the server here, we need AZ LoCo Artwork -- desktops and images that can be the splash screens, and Cover art. Ubuntu Server was also included in the original version.
What would be nice would be some screencast tutorials to include on the DVD, information about the LoCo ( where to join, where to get help, etc.)

This something we did in 2007, it was moderately popular with the Linux community. Here is a link to the original torrent:

ASU Install Fest

I'm going to keep this short and sweet like johnc4510 asked me to.
Here is the time and place:
Date: March 21st, 2009
Time: 9am - 5pm
Location: Brickyard Lobby 1st floor
699 S Mill Ave
Tempe, AZ 85281 (map shown below)

They are going to have games, different presentations, and booths for all kinds of different stuff. As of Sunday it looks like there are going to be at least 5 of us going to help them out, and we would like to see as much of an AZ LoCo turnout as possible. Hope to see you all there.
